Yaay! Today marks the 1 year anniversary of my arrival in this fine city! Exactly 1 year ago today I landed in Newark Airport and walked right out the door of that horrendous airport and got my first taste of an East Coast winter. I remember stepping out, lugging my bag, and WHAMMO, my first super cold spell subzero breeze raced up to me and mauled my face. Well, it’s (slightly) less colder one year later, and I think my sissy West Coast skin may have toughened up a little.
It’s been a fun ride. This weekend marks my last weekend living in the West Villiage and it’s all about packing – I haven’t really done much packing up yet. I work most days from 9:30 or 10am until about 9:30 or 10pm so I’m not exactly thrilled about the idea of rushing home and starting manual labour, but I guess I’m kind of out of time, so this weekend is all about putting stuff in boxes.
I celebrated my big 1 year with a basket of absolutely fantastic hot wings at a place called Wogies, which is a sort of neighbourhood pub just around the corner from me who have absolutely amazing Cheesesteaks (and as an ex-Cheesesteak maker, let me tell you, I know Cheesesteaks!) and even BETTER wings. The wings are absolutely insane. I just demolished a dozen (ish) of them!
Anyhow, happy anniversary!
