What I bought 12 years ago on Boxing Day

Man, you find some weird shit when you go through old files, you know? Take a peek at this – I bought this TWELVE YEARS AGO on BOXING DAY. I’m going to assume this was a “special” price, which makes it even crazier.

See, I’m a bit of a speed freak – I LOVE bandwidth. I sometimes just download stuff to watch the little bar climb and check how fast the ones and zeroes fire down the pipe. I’ve got the most expensive internet access I can find (excluding Fiber, which isn’t in my area) and I am constantly firing packets, pinging and testing my connection to see just how fast it is. I have the need for speed.

Obviously, I’ve had it for a while – check this thing out. This is a 12 year old receipt for a 28.8 modem – I’m guessing the fastest thing I could find for my Mac at the time. And the price? Check it out. Insane.

You’ve come a long way, internet. Imagine downloading the entire first season of Lost with THIS bad boy!

um… I was using 1400 until 1997. We paid over $4000 for our Mac with 4MB RAM, 40 MB hard drive, and magical laser printer.
