Hey, I’m moving – if anyone wants a great pad in New York, take over mine!
My apartment is in super awesome Murray Hill, home to amazing bars like Third and Long and Tonic, where you can slug brewskies while watching “the big game”. Or so I’m told, anyhow, I’ve never been in either place because I don’t really care for “brewskies” and probably can’t tell you what SPORT “the big game” is being play in, much less who the teams are.
Regardless, Murray Hill is a great location. I’m 5 short blocks from Grand Central, which means you’re moments from anywhere. Fire crosstown on the shuttle to Times Square to hop on the N and R lines, or shoot directly downtown on the 4, 5 & 6. The apartment is on the 2nd floor facing north, with a view of the Chrysler Building. You can see the lit spire of it peeking over the top of the building across the street, which is a sight you will probably never tire of. I haven’t. I love that damned building and will miss it terribly. It’s near the corner of 37th and Lexington, between 3rd and Lex.
Area wise, “The MH” has everything you need; NY legacy Daniel’s Bagels have you covered for breakfast. Sarge’s Deli is right around the corner serving up piles of pastrami based goodness. Wander down to the totally awesome & 24 hour Murray Hill Market for anytime sandwiches, paninis, salads and groceries. Work off your sunday morning hangover with a Cheesesteak from Carl’s or enjoy a stupid cheap margarita and so-so burrito from Blockheads. I originally scowled at the idea of living in Murray Hill after co-workers called it “fratty”, but it’s awesome. Everything you need is nearby, and you can get anywhere in the city super quick.
What attracted me to the studio was the price (it’s $1450 a month) and the fact that while it is a studio, it has a super cool sleeping loft that accommodates a full sized queen mattress. With the bed elevated, you keep a living room without the staggering 1 bedroom price! Win win.
It’s got two closets, a cool built-in storage unit in the sleeping area, a WORKING FIREPLACE which I have never used (so there’s nothing to clean!). I replaced the rattly old AC that was in the window with a 10,000 BTW Friedtich unit which is quiet and runs very cool. It’s staying with the apartment, my gift to you.
Here’s a few photos. Occupancy is available as of October 31st (I’m moving on the 30th). Drop a line to this address if you’re interested – email@example.com – and tell Nina that Kevin sent you.
and NO, you don’t get the bar. That’s coming with me. Sorry!
Seriously, this is a great pad, and I hate to leave it. When you’re laying down on the couch and you look up to see the Chrysler building peeking back at you, lit up like a deco Christmas tree? Let me tell you, that NEVER gets tired.
